Rear parking assistance facilitates judging distance when parking in tight spaces by alerting you of obstacles behind the car when you are reversing. Rear parking assistance warns of obstructions behind the car when you reverse, e.g. with parking. The system is activated when reverse gear is selected. The volume of the radio/stereo is lowered and a pulsating "buzzer tone" is heard from the car's rear speakers. The tone starts when the obstruction is about 150 cm (59 in) away and increases to a continuous tone when it is less than 30 cm (11.8 in) away from the rear bumper.
